Most every night I bask in light,
But now my life is dim.
For, on this Winter Solstice night,
Your dull visage is grim.
The gift you give unto the world
Is absent for a while;
This bloodred blanket that's unfurled
Prevents my usual smile.
Your light of hope is hidden from
The one who needs it most.
You have to live, you have to try
To clear this scarlet ghost.
I need to see your light again;
I need to know you're here,
And, though the dark has come to reign,
Please try to persevere.
I plead that, with the Sun's return,
I'll once more see your glow
Because I need your kind concern
Much more than you can know.

The mall wasn’t too far away from the tourist attractions, and was actually quite close to your school. Satisfied with your choice, you pulled into the lot.
Parking, you and Rhiannon made your way through the lot and inside the shopping center.
“Now, this gala is going to be completely Black Tie, so we’re going to have to buy things that are really nice,” you announce, holding the door open for Rhiannon.
“My foster parents only gave me 50 bucks, though,R

Being introduced to the world as a Stark, you were perfectly capable of being sent to a private school for your education. Despite this, you insisted on going to a public one. You hated the idea of being away from your dad for so long (you were REALLY close with him), being fed foods you didn't like (not that you were picky), or uniforms. You also hated sharing rooms with people you didn’t know, or sharing anything with them outside the classroom. Besides, from what you’ve heard and seen from movies you definitely weren’t going to be some headmaster’s secret slave.
There were so many other things you didn't like about

Though this was inspired by tonight's lunar eclipse, the deeper meaning is revealed when you read it in the context of an emergency room.

Great job on this
I really love the rhyme, it really helps the poem to flow nicely.
I also imagine someone in a depressive state, trying to find the light... but only manages to do so as he hits his skin with the edge of the blade, every time sinking in deeper...
